Even if it's just a "family legend", it hardly necessitates scrutiny of the sort that demands a published source, is it?!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7737802467627480190.post-43367473865194626112019-06-21T12:52:25.137+00:002019-06-21T12:52:25.137+00:00Yes, but given the regularity with which such pron...Yes, but given the regularity with which such pronoun usage is encountered these days, it's forgivable, surely? Or at the very least, not warranting the lengthy harangue you elected to issue. The mention of Lady Maureen having been 'uneducated' merely observes the fact that, when she was young, it was often the case that girls' schooling came a very distant second to that of boys; it was hardly intended as a slight on the writer's part. Really, some people just don't have any ability to read tone; quite silly of you to get such a bee in your bonnet over the word "educated" as you did.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7737802467627480190.post-23977661342981437302017-08-05T15:30:22.303+00:002017-08-05T15:30:22.303+00:00wash your mouth out with soap, anonymous.wash your mouth out with soap, anonymous.Fliphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06217357583371446142noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7737802467627480190.post-6861472779738881352017-01-15T18:16:07.789+00:002017-01-15T18:16:07.789+00:00Tired of posh accent bashing. The powers that be want to get into our lives, into our heads and into our DNA. Everyone should read (or re-read) 1984. We need to resist their power-hungry meddling. Teachers should focus on enabling children to take in, appreciate and evaluate the world and the human and animal cultures and societies within it. This is best done by equipping them with good basic communication skills like reading and arithmetic, artisan skills as much as they are capable, physical well-being through sports, and a social perspective based on history and language. A good knowledge of the world leads to a love of the world and love elicits good manners in all of us.

Love the second para!!

PS - I think Lyn Jones is probably Director rather than Directive of marketing and admissions.Rory Felloweshttp://www.roryanimations.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7737802467627480190.post-28438012513291214562010-07-12T11:31:29.575+00:002010-07-12T11:31:29.575+00:00er, are you questioning Debretts

I always eat my puddings with a fork - I have an aunt who has been known to eat custard with a fork - and do think, say, a gooey chocolate cake is much less messy eaten that way. So, I do think you should offer guests a small fork for their cake.
